This academic program leads to the Degree of Dental Doctor of Medicine (D.M.D.)
This degree is accepted in all EU countries and several countries around the
world. The five year program at Debrecen has been carefully structured
and designed to ensure a high standard of knowledge, skills and
responsibility of dental surgeons. During the 1st year a thorough
understanding of Basic medical sciences is gained. In addition, in the
2nd year the program broadens to encompass anatomy, Histology, Physiology,
and Behavioral Sciences in topics that are relevant to the practice of
Dentistry. In the 3rd year, disciplines exploring the theoretical
background of diseases such as the pathology, patho- physiology and
microbiology are instructed with aspects related to oral sciences. In
the 4th year, students begin to treat patients in the Clinical practice and
other special clinical departments. By the end of the 5th year, dental
students are required to submit and defend their theses and take the final
examination.
